What is B Corp?
B Corp certification recognises businesses that demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental, social, and governance standards. The certification process, administered by the non-profit organisation B Lab, involves a comprehensive assessment of a company’s practices to ensure it meets rigorous criteria for accountability, transparency, and social impact. Companies must achieve a minimum score of 80 points to earn the certification, showing their dedication to balancing profit with purpose.

Our B Corp Journey
Our B Corp journey began in November 2023, when we started the B Impact Assessment (BIA), a process requiring multiple stages of submitting information, statistics, and documentation to achieve certification.
The BIA measured our practices across criteria relating to Governance, Workers, Community and Environmental Impact. The assessment was also tailored to our specific industry, size, and location, recognising the unique challenges faced by service providers like us. Through this process, we demonstrated responsible practices in areas such as energy use, waste management, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.
After completing the assessment, CleanTEC proudly achieved a score of 89.9 points, significantly surpassing the median score of 50.9 for ordinary businesses. This achievement makes us the largest UK-based employee-owned B Corp.
What Our Certification Represents
From the very beginning, CleanTEC was founded on a commitment to fostering an environment where employees are respected and valued. The co-founders placed a strong emphasis on creating meaningful jobs, offering clear career progression, and providing opportunities for growth and development. This was reflected in the B Lab assessment, where ‘Workers’ emerged as CleanTEC’s strongest performing pillar.
