CleanTEC 2024 Highlights

As we welcome 2025, we want to reflect on a remarkable year filled with progress, innovation and achievements. Here are some of the highlights of our journey over the past year.

MAY - The CleanTEC Employee Council Attends John Lewis Partnership Council Meeting

In May, members of our employee council had the privilege of attending The John Lewis Partnership’s council meeting. As the largest employee-owned business in the UK, John Lewis shared invaluable insights into how they innovate and enhance the experience for all of their stakeholders. This opportunity offered inspiration and practical ideas to further strengthen our own employee-ownership journey.

MAY – Spencer Superstars Charity Event

Also in May, our Northern team had the honor of attending the Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation event. Created by our client, Spencers Academy Trust, the foundation is dedicated to empowering students with outstanding abilities across their schools to achieve their full potential. It was a privilege to celebrate the achievements of these remarkable students and be part of such an inspiring event.

JUNE – Employee-Ownership Day 2024

Every June, we celebrate Employee Ownership Day, joining employee-owned companies nationwide to celebrate the benefits of this business model. As always, we commemorated the occasion by celebrating with our team across the company.

JULY – CleanTEC Joins the Chamber of Commerce

In July, we officially became a member of the Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce. Having been based in Watford since the company was founded nearly 25 years ago, we are excited to deepen our involvement in the local business community.

Ingrid Harwood, our sales manager shared:

“Joining the Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce is another step forward for CleanTEC. We look forward to the opportunities and collaborations this membership will bring.”

AUGUST – Deep Clean For Our Local Athletics Club

Building on our commitment to the local community, in August we had the chance to lend a helping hand when one of our colleagues noticed that the Watford Harriers athletics clubhouse—where her daughter trains—was in need of a deep clean. When this was brought to our attention, we were happy to offer our services free of charge, ensuring the clubhouse was clean and ready to celebrate the club’s upcoming 100th anniversary.

SEPTEMBER – Litter Pick For World Clean-Up Day

In September, we marked World Clean Up Day 2024 by teaming up with our local council for a litter pick at the park near our head office. In just one hour, we collected four bags of waste and recyclables, making a positive impact on our local environment.

OCTOBER – CleanTEC Safety & Training Manager joins the BICs Council

In October, our Safety & Training Manager, Stephen Dove, became a member of The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) Council. As the largest independent, professional, and educational body in the cleaning industry, BICSc is dedicated to elevating standards of education and increasing awareness of the industry.

Reflecting on his new role, Steve shared:

“Being asked to sit on the council is a real honour, and I feel privileged to represent CleanTEC as a corporate member. I look forward to contributing and helping to further raise the profile and standards of our often-overlooked industry.”

NOVEMBER - Employee-Ownership Association Conference 2024

In November, we attended the annual employee-ownership association conference. Every year, this conference proves to be an incredible opportunity to share experiences and gain valuable insights into how the employee-ownership model drives innovation, engagement, and success.

This year was particularly exciting as our Managing Director Peter Rochford, and Independent Trustee Director Patrick Brennan participated in a panel discussion. Alongside representatives from Aber Instruments Ltd, they shared perspectives on maintaining company culture while scaling a business. Key topics included the importance of clear communication, staying connected to your roots, and consistently upholding your company’s values.
